Since 1934, Liga has been dedicated to improving the health & well-being
of the people of Sinaloa Mexico by providing free health care & education

LIGA reaches out to help the child with the cleft plate, the woman blind from cataracts, the young man missing a leg, the old woman with varicose ulcers. The lame, a child with a surgically correctable deformity, an undernourished baby, a young girl with broken and decayed teeth, a woman with undiagnosed diabetes and hypertension ... we serve all those who hurt, are ill, and cannot receive help elsewhere. The first Friday of each month from October through June, 12-15 privately owned airplanes, carrying four to six passengers each, deliver volunteers and supplies to remote LIGA clinics.
There, hundreds of needy people are given medical, dental, and eye care that they would not get otherwise. Many people are treated, both children and adults. For example, plastic surgeons repair cleft lips, cleft palates, remove tumors, skin cancers, and repair burn scars. General surgeons perform hernia operations. Podiatrists straighten club feet so children can walk. Long neglected teeth are filled when possible or removed if necessary. Ophthalmologists remove scores of cataracts. Glasses are fitted and sight is restored to the blind. An audiologist provides hearing aids and hearing is restored or improved.
